LARGO, Florida -- A teenager was killed in a drive-by shooting while at a house party just a day after Thanksgiving.
Around 11:15 p.m. on Friday night, 19-year-old Gregory Antonio Williams II was standing outside a house on 134th Place North when Pinellas County detectives believe as many as three cars drove by and fired at the house.
"It sounded like it was right outside. We immediately got the kids upstairs and locked the doors," said Michael Sawyer, who lives blocks away from where the shooting occurred. "I couldn't imagine [it], especially the day after Thanksgiving. My heart goes out to the family."
An ambulance rushed Williams to Largo Medical Center. He was pronounced dead soon after. Pinellas County detectives aren't disclosing whether Williams was the intended target.
"I really hope they find out who did this. It's scary knowing that they're still out there," Sawyer said.
Friends of Williams took to Facebook to express their grief. One wrote, "So sad this happened to such a good person. His family is everything to me. I love them like my own."
Williams was at the party two months after being released from a state prison. He served a few months for carrying a concealed firearm and resisting an officer with violence.
Anyone with information about this shooting is urged to call Detective Keith Johnson at (727) 582-6200.
