Sarasota, Florida -- A woman was arrested Wednesday for leaving her toddler locked in her car while she shopped at a local Big Lots.

The sheriff's office says concerned citizens called police around 1:30 this afternoon when they noticed the little girl sitting alone in a newer Chevrolet Malibu in the parking lot of the store in the 3700 block of Bee Ridge Road.

Security said the girl's mother, 31-year-old Sunnie Jo Andrepont, had a cart full of toys and was shopping for half an hour at the store. Andrepont told deputies she left her 22-month-old daughter in the car on purpose but left it running.

The girl was not harmed and her father picked her up to take her home.

Andrepont has been charged with Felony Child Neglect.
