LAKELAND, Florida -- The Polk County Sheriff's Office says a 23-year-old man is dead after two men shot him early Sunday morning.
Deputies say Sean Williamson went to Ybor City Saturday evening with his 29-year-old friend and coworker. The two returned to Polk County around 4 a.m. Sunday. Authorities say Williamson's friend was driving.
As the two men approached Williamson's home, deputies say a dark-colored car drove up and blocked Williamson's car. Two men then got out and fired several shots at both victims before getting back into the car and fleeing.
Deputies say the friend drove away, leaving Williamson behind in the road. He then reportedly drove himself to Lakeland Regional Medical Center, where he is undergoing surgery for gunshot wounds. Williamson was declared dead at the scene.
