Earlier in the day, numerous media outlets across the country incorrectly reported his brother, Ryan Lanza, 24, was the shooter.
Police took Ryan Lanza into custory Friday afternoon for questioning, but he is not considered a suspect in the massacre.
But for several hours, the world thought the former Quinnipiac College student, now living in Hoboken, N.J. was the killer. Angry posts flooded the Facebook pages of people and groups he was associated with. At one point, Ryan Lanza's page was unavailable, although it wasn't clear if it was intentional or not.
As of Friday evening, law enforcement still hadn't confirmed the identity of the shooter.
