Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - The Texas Rangers and free agent catcher
A.J. Pierzynski have agreed to terms on a one-year contract.
The deal is contingent upon passing of a Friday physical, according to
Pierzynski hit .278 with a career-high 27 home runs, 18 doubles and 77 RBI in
135 games for the White Sox in 2012.
The 35-year-old Long Island native spent the last eight seasons of his 15-year
career in Chicago, helping the Pale Hose win the World Series in 2005, their
first since 1917.
Over 1,629 games for the Twins, Giants and ChiSox since 1998, Pierzynski holds
a .284 average with 155 homers and 730 RBI.
