BRANDON, Fla. - A Bay area family is reacting to a deadly shooting at a Brandon nightclub after their own loved one was shot and killed at the same club back in 2007.

Karen Taylor-Williams was an innocent bystander at Boomerang Night Club, then called Club Fluid, when a fight broke out and she was shot. The 36-year-old was a mother of three.

"My whole life changed in the blink of an eye. My whole life changed," said her daughter, Taelor Smith, who turned 21 years old on Saturday.

Smith and her family can't believe there has been another deadly shooting at the same club at 2106 Town Center Blvd. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, a security guard shot and killed a man who opened fire on another man outside in the parking lot and then pointed the gun at the security officer. Authorities said the fight started inside the club. It left one man dead and two hurt, including an innocent bystander.

"It really hurts that this has happened again. It hurts to know someone has to go through what we went through," said Smith. "I feel like my mother's death was in vain when I see that happen. Like she just died and people looked at it and said, 'Oh, well.'"

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Boomerang has had a "high number of calls" for service, including 25 this year so far. Five of them were for assault and battery.

Taylor- Williams' family believes more protection at clubs is needed, whether it's metal detectors or police presence.

"It makes me very, very angry," said Taylor-Williams' sister, Sabrina Taylor-Mitchell. "As a society, we need to make a decision as to what we're going to do and what value we're going to place on human life."

10 News was not able to speak to the club's owner or manager. However, an employee said Saturday night the club had seven security officers, inside and outside. So far, no charges have been filed in the shooting.
