LUTZ, Florida -- Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf's legacy of excellence can be seen and felt all over Tampa, not only at MacDill Air Force Base, but also at the elementary school in Lutz that bears his name.

Nearby residents, many whose children attended the school, speak highly of his character.
"My daughter went to school there," said Anne Purdy. "It was an honor for my daughter to attend a school that bears his name, and [she] was able to learn of his character of inspiration."

When the school's students picked a mascot, they went to "Stormin' Norman's" other nickname -- the bear. A stuffed teddy bear in the front office even bears the name "General." The children picked that name as well, kids who come to the school to learn and to be inspired by the man who once said, "Leadership is the potent combination of strategy and character. If you cannot have them both, leave out the strategy."
