Spring Hill, Florida -- A Hernando County woman is facing an additional child abuse charge after a second child in her care tested positive for cocaine.
Kimberly Losurdo, 45, was arrested Thursday when a 9-year-old was hospitalized after becoming violently ill at their home. Investigators later learned the child had ingested some crack cocaine believed to have belonged to Losurdo.
Two other children, ages 11 and 16, were taken into custody by the Department of Children and Families after Losurdo's arrest.
To their "dismay," investigators say the 11-year-old also tested positive for cocaine, but fortunately had not become as sick as the 9-year-old.
The 11-year-old told investigators that after seeing Losurdo "smoking something in short, quick sessions," the child found a pill/candy-looking substance on a dresser and ate it.
The 11-year-old remains in the custody of DCF, and Losurdo was charged with a second count of child abuse.
