CLEARWATER, Florida -- All week long leading up to the annual Outback Bowl on New Year's Day, Michigan and South Carolina players and fans have enjoyed the warm weather and tropical sights that the Florida coast has to offer.
The temperature in Clearwater was downright chilly by Sunshine State standards, but that didn't keep hundreds of people from gathering near Pier 60 to enjoy a beach party sponsored by the bowl game.
Fans from both schools came to pose with a giant sand sculpture, watch cheerleaders battle in Tug-O-War matches, and feast their eyes on a key lime pie eating contest.
The events come just two days before No. 10 South Carolina (10-2) and No. 18 Michigan (8-4) square off in Raymond James Stadium.
The Wolverines won the Tug-O-War competition and the Gamecocks took home the trophy for the key lime pie eating contest.
