Palm Bay, FL (Florida Today) -- The alleged theft of a $1.29 convenience store pastry has landed a Palm Bay man in jail for days.

The man is accused of stuffing the Iced Honey Bun down his sweatpants and leaving a 7-Eleven store at 6405 Minton Road. That was on Dec. 28.

A store manager saw the theft and confronted the man, who fled on a black bicycle. Palm Bay police in the area saw the suspect on Aladdin Street, and using a police dog they found and arrested the man in a wooded lot next to 178 Battersea Ave. NE.

The suspect, identified by police as Brandon C. Phillips, 18, was wearing the same gray sweatpants and his getaway bicycle was found between two houses nearby. A police report says the store clerk identified the suspect as the pastry pilferer.

Phillips faces misdemeanor charges of retail petit theft, resisting arrest without violence and resisting in the recovery of merchandise.

The Honey Bun was not found.
