Winter Haven, FL-- A Polk County Sheriff's Office Animal Control employee was arrested Thursday night for forcibly taking her previous pet away from the woman she reportedly gave it to.
According to officials, Lori Holland, 41 from Winter Haven, gave her Chihuahua, Mojo, to 82-year-old Rosa DiCesare a few weeks ago when she decided she could no longer care for him.
Holland must have changed her mind, because on December 29, she reportedly went to DeCesare's home to "drop off more items for Mojo", but forcibly took the dog instead.
Officials arrested Holland late Thursday night and charged her with one count of robbery and one count of burglary, and they also gave the dog back to DeCesare.
Reports say Holland has been working for the Polk County Sheriff's Office in various positions since 2008. She took the position of Animal Control Officer in February of 2012, though she resigned as of her arrest.
According to officials, had Holland not resigned, she would have been immediately suspended pending termination.
