Hillsborough County, Florida -- Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies are searching for the man who shot at and injured a hotel clerk at the Ruskin Inn during a robbery early Monday morning.
Deputies say the clerk, Shanna Borovich, was sitting in the lobby around 3:36 a.m. when she got a call from a man who said he was staying at the hotel and couldn't sleep due to all the noise outside his room.
The clerk went to the back of the hotel and when she opened the door to the pool area, she was confronted by the man at gunpoint. He then forced her outside and told her to walk toward the wooded area near the hotel. As she was walking, she heard gunshots and was told to lie down on the ground and stay there.
She told police she saw him walk to the front of the hotel and, after a few seconds, saw him walk out the front of the hotel with something. Investigators say he took money from the hotel.
Borovich was grazed in the head by a bullet during the incident and is being treated at Tampa General Hospital.
Deputies describe the suspect as a white male, 5'10" - 6', with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a black mesh cloth over the bottom part of his face, a black hoodie, blue jeans and black gloves.
Authorities are in the process of retrieving surveillance video from the hotel and will release it, if and when they get it.
