Greensboro, NC (WFMY) -- Police have issued a Crime Stoppers alert in hopes
of tracking down a man they say stole $450 worth of beef tenderloins
from a North Carolina grocery store.
Officers say the man walked up to the meat counter of the Lowes Foods
store on the 6300 block of Old Oak Ridge Road, shoved the beef into his
pants and then walked out. Officers aren't sure what sort of vehicle he
was driving or which way he went when he left.
It might sound like a silly crime, but it's something that costs everyone.
"[Grocery store theft] occurs so often that these stores are
suffering the loss," Greensboro police Det. CF Holliday said. "It's easy
to think that a big-name store ... can afford that. But this is just
one guy on one day. You add that up several times a day or throughout
the week and you're talking about thousands and thousands of dollars of
loss."
If you know anything that could help track down the man, call Crime
Stoppers at (336) 373-1000. Or text the keyword "badboyz" and your tip
to 274637. All Crime Stoppers calls are anonymous.
