Clearwater Beach, Florida - Shephard's, the waterfront resort that's been rocking the beach for over 36 years, has begun a major expansion, adding hotel rooms, more parking dining and meeting space, along with a much larger Tiki bar and concert stage.
The venue will remain open for business during the work, which is expected to be completed within a year, according to Gerri Shephard, director of operations at Shephard's Beach Resort.
The project includes 90 new hotel rooms, an additional parking garage, a 7,000 square foot swimming pool and deck with VIP cabanas and pool bar, a new tequila bar and tap room, and remodeling of its 10,000 square foot interactive waterfront restaurant and private dining areas.
Demolition of the older two-story section of the hotel and pool begins later this month. Fencing around that area of the property is already being put up. That will be the location of the new tower and pool.
The resort will open a new website in mid-February, to post construction updates and photos of the project.
