Pensacola, Florida (PNJ) -- A woman suffered severe burns Saturday night in an apartment tower
fire in West Pensacola, according to a release from Pensacola Fire
Marshal David Allen.
The Pensacola Fire
Department responded Saturday night to an apartment fire at Westminster
Village Tower II in the 1800 block of West Moreno Street.
Three
engines, a ladder and a rescue truck arrived on the scene about 6:39
p.m., and firefighters rescued a woman trapped in the fifth-floor
apartment, the release stated. She was then transported to the hospital
by EMS for treatment.
Several others were evacuated from the building.
The
fire likely was caused by smoking in bed. The state fire marshal and
the Pensacola Fire Marshal's Office are investigating the fire. Damage
was limited to one apartment.
