Tampa, Florida -- If you're in Downtown Tampa on Tuesday, be on the lookout! You may see some pirates lurking in the streets.
The pirates of Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla will "negotiate" for the surrender of the city with Mayor Bob Buckhorn.
That's set for noon Tuesday on Franklin Street, just north of Kennedy Boulevard.
If more than a hundred years of history are any indication, the negotiations won't go well. And that will lead to a trio of events as the pirates capture Tampa on Saturday.
Street Festival - 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Invasion from the Bay - 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Pirate Parade - 2 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
From 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., the Gasparilla Pirate Fest will be rockin' with live music in Downtown Tampa.
Then starting at 11:30, the pirate ship Jose Gasparilla will sail up Hillsborough Bay toward Downtown, surrounded by hundreds of other vessels.
At 1 p.m., Mayor Bob Buckhorn will surrender the city on the steps of the Tampa Convention Center.
An hour later, at 2, the no-good pirates will begin their march into the city. The Parade of the Pirates will head north along Bayshore Boulevard, starting at Bay-to-Bay and ending downtown.
The first invasion came in 1904. The pirates have been sacking the city just about every year since.
