Sex therapist, Dr. Barbara Cook, weighs in on why older women may be attracted to teenage boys.
Tampa, Florida - A Tampa sex therapist is weighing in on why an older married woman would want to have a sexual encounter with a teenage boy.
This comes after the recent arrest of Alexis Colson, who is accused of having sex with a 16-year-old.
And she is not the only Bay area woman to make headlines for such a crime. Women like Debra LeFave and Lisa Marinelli both pleaded guilty to having sex with a teenage boy. Both were also married.

Dr. Barbara Cook said sometimes, women who seek teens are immature, insecure and cannot relate to someone their own age.
And many times, it has to do with their past.
"Many of them have been sexually abused, and had problematic childhoods. So therefore, their sense of their self worth [and] their self esteem has been effected," said Dr. Cook.
Another possible reason is a needed sense of fulfillment from something that is missing.
"Perhaps something is going on with them in their lives. Perhaps there is some discontent. There is something that they need that they're not getting," said Dr. Cook.
Dr. Cook added that some women also have a desire to recapture their youth or crave the power in controlling a younger male.
"When they have that sense of being in control with a young male, it's empowering. They like that feeling very much," said Dr. Cook.
The sex therapist added that sometimes these women may not even think what they're doing is wrong and don't consider the consequences.
