Todd "M.J." Schnitt takes the stand during a defamation lawsuit against Bubba the Love Sponge Clem

TAMPA, Florida - Could we soon see MJ vs. Brent?

Not so fast, says an attorney for MJ.

Brent Hatley, executive producer for the Bubba the Love Sponge Show, announced on-air Wednesday morning that he received a certified letter from Todd "MJ" Schnitt. Brent told 10 News the letter outlines the intent to "sue him in the foreseeable future."

When 10 News asked what the lawsuit was about, Brent said it over over attorney Phil Campbell's DUI arrest.

However, in a statement released tonight by an attorney for MJ, the lawyer claims just the opposite.

The statement reads, "The letter sent to Mr. Hatley is a letter requesting Mr. Hatley preserve (meaning not destroy or allow the spoliation of) potential evidence. It is not a letter indicating that a lawsuit against him is forthcoming."

However, in the contents of the letter from MJ to Brent, the following statement was made by an attorney, "I am writing to advise you of the existence of a potential claim against you."

Campell, an attorney for Schnitt, was arrested for DUI during the high-profile trial after drinking at Malio's with legal assistant, Melissa Personius, who works for the law firm representing Bubba the Love Sponge Clem.

Clem's legal team was then accused of orchestrating a honeypot scheme to entice Campbell into drinking and driving while Tampa police waited outside.

Bubba's team has denied any involvement, calling the accusations preposterous.

In the defamation lawsuit, Bubba was cleared of all charges; MJ had sued for damages and lost.

But it's not over, not by a long shot. The judge in this case is calling for an investigation as to what exactly happened that night at Malio's, saying that in all his years on the bench he's never seen accusations of misconduct like this.

The Florida Bar is also conducting an investigation into complaints against MJ attorney, Phil Campbell, Bubba attorney Steve Diaco and Adam Filthaut, who works with Diaco.
