Tampa, Florida -- How about a mini pie that you can make easily and quickly without using an oven?
Try It Before You Buy It team member Yvonne Bradley-Reid took the Personal Pie Maker into the kitchen to see if it can serve up a great tasting treat without spending a lot of dough.
The Personal Pie Maker resembles a waffle maker except it can make four individual-sized pies.
Yvonne decided to make apple pies but you can make pot pies, vegetable pies and quiches. She used her own recipe, but if you don't have a favorite, you can use one of the recipes that are included. Yvonne chose to use ready-made pie crusts which she cut to size and placed in the nonstick baking tray. Then the pre-cooked pie filling was put in followed by another layer of pie dough. The lid was closed and the pies were baked for 5 minutes.
Yvonne found the apple pies to be cooked perfectly with just the right amount of flakiness to the crust.
The Personal Pie Maker sells for $29.99 but we found it at Big Lots for $17.99.
