Clearwater, Florida-- One victim's claims that a local man sexually molested and battered him for years lead three other victims to follow suit, and speak out. Now, deputies say they've put that man behind bars.
According to reports, it was out of concern for other children that the first victim decided to speak out. He told his mother that 43-year-old William Roberts sexually battered him for 10 years- starting when he was just six.
From there, reports say the mother reached out to three other children known to be in contact with Roberts. Each of them, she says, admitted they, too had been sexually battered.
An investigation of the allegations kicked off on February 16, the day the mother reportedly reached out to deputies with the story.
After concluding that Roberts had molested or sexually battered all four children on an ongoing basis, officials planned to lock him up.
Roberts, a truck driver, was out of town, and was scheduled to return to Pinellas on February 21.
Officials say they arrested him in Clearwater on three charges of sexual battery on children under 12, and one count of molestation of children under 12.
Detectives have concerns that there may be other victims, and they ask anyone with information in this case to contact Sergeant Kurt Romanosky of the Crimes Against Children Unit.
