Clearwater, Florida-- A motorcyclist lost his life and his passenger is listed in serious condition after the two rear-ended a state trooper at nearly 130 miles-per-hour Wednesday night.

According to reports, the trooper was trying to pull out of a construction lane when the motorcycle, driven by 26-year-old Keith Williamson, slammed into the back of his cruiser.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the speed limit was 50-miles-per-hour.

Troopers told 10 News that before the crash, Clearwater Police even tried to pull Williamson over, but they stopped chasing him when he started driving even faster.

The crash happened on the Courtney Campbell Causeway. The impact reportedly threw Williamson and his female passenger from the bike.

Williamson lost his life in the crash, and the woman is listed in serious condition.

Preliminary Florida Highway Patrol reports said the trooper was parked on the inside lane, but they released the following statement Friday night:

"After conducting further investigation, it has been determined that the patrol car, which had been parked in the inside lane, was moving to the outside lane when it was struck by the motorcycle.  This incident remains under investigation."
