ST. PETERSBURG, Florida -- A rally was held to stop construction on the new St. Petersburg Pier today.

The group Concerned Citizens of St. Petersburg gathered at Cha Cha Coconuts Bar & Grill. The group wants to pass an ordinance to terminate the city's contract with the Los Angeles-based designer who came up with the idea for the "Lens."

So far, the group has collected half of the nearly 17,000 signatures required to pass the ordinance.
