(USA TODAY) Girls Gone Wild, the raunchy sophomoric franchise that made a name by aiming its cameras on the booze- and testosterone-fueled college spring break scene, filed for bankruptcy last week in a sign that maybe, just maybe, American culture has taken a giant leap forward.
Nuh, uh.
The Girls Gone Wild franchise may have been tamed, but For the second year running Coedmagazine.com has announced the nation's trashiest spring break venues. The editors base their rankings on past spring break cred factors such as Girls Gone Wild shoots; prevalence of Hooters restaurants, tattoo parlors, liquor stores and strip clubs; and laws pertaining to open containers and drinking establishment closing times.
The website rounded up the usual suspects, except this year, the list of bared-flesh, sun-drenched, booze-soaked bacchanals includes 15 locales -- five more than last year.

A rise in trashy stature from the No. 5 spot to fourth place this year had some Myrtle Beach, S. C., city officials tut-tutting about the dubious distinction.
"I am at a loss to explain why someone would put Myrtle Beach on that list," Myrtle Beach spokesman Mark Kruea told the Charlotte Observer. "That wouldn't be our perception."
For the second year, Las Vegas gets the site's nod for overall trashiest spring break haunt. Apparently, many spring breakers are already planning getaways there: Las Vegas was No. 1 in flights and hotel searches for travel through March, reports the Internet travel search site Kayak.
And this just in: Del Monte, the mega purveyor of fruits and veggies, will promote healthy eating to spring breakers in Daytona Beach, Fla., on Friday by giving away 200 banana costumes for a mass "banana dance." Cue the double entendres.
Wholesome-eating efforts notwithstanding, Daytona Beach ranks No. 3 on Coedmagazine.com's trashy list.
The complete rankings:
1. Las Vegas
2. South Padre Island, Tex.
3. Daytona Beach, Fla.
4. Myrtle Beach, S.C.
5. Orlando, Fla.
6. Lake Havasu, Ariz.
7. Miami, Fla.
