On the afternoon of March 5, Yesenia sent her mother a text message saying she was alright but would not be coming home.
Mulberry, Florida -- 15-year-old Mulberry teen Yesenia Gomez has been found safe in South Carolina, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities say Gomez was last seen at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5 when her mother dropped her off at school. Later that day around 2:30 p.m., Yesenia sent her mother a text message saying she was alright but would not be coming home.
School officials told police Yesenia had not been in school since March 1.
Gomez and 20-year-old Rogelio Diego were pulled over by a Colleton County detective on I-95. Diego was arrested for not having a valid driver's license and booked into a local jail. He is also charged with interfering with child custody, and will be extradited back to Polk County, the sheriff's office said.
