Tampa, Florida -- This humble hero helped save a woman's life, and then got back in his car and headed to work.
Jim Flaherty showed up to work at Tampa International Airport with mud and blood on his clothes.
After his fellow TSA workers asked him about it, he shared what happened on his way into the office.
A car sped past him on Gunn Highway in Tampa early Wednesday morning. Down the road, he spotted that same car deep in the woods, smoking.
Flaherty pulled over.
The driver was pinned in the car, screaming that her leg was broken. Flaherty and another man pulled her out.
One minute later, the car was engulfed in flames. At that point, the driver never could have escaped.
We asked him -- do you feel like a hero?
"More embarrassed than anything else, to tell you the truth," the humble hero said.
"It just didn't seem like that big of a deal. When I saw her off in the woods, I just thought I had to get her out of the car if I could."
Flaherty was in law enforcement for 20 years before he joined the Transportation Security Administration back when the agency first began in 2002.
His coworkers say he's also an Army veteran.
