Sarasota, Florida -- Police are currently investigating a death that they say appears to be a homicide.

Sarasota Police say on March 14, at 7:55 a.m., officers responded to the 1800 block of 19th Street on a report of a man lying motionless in the vacant field behind the apartments. 

When they arrived at the scene, officers found a deceased black man in his 20's who was later identified as Jovonne R. Corn.  

At this time, Sarasota Police Department detectives are treating this case as a homicide investigation. Anyone with information about this case should contact Detective Dan Riley at (941) 954-7062.
