Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - Erik Etherly had quite an afternoon to power
the Loyola-Maryland Greyhounds to a 73-59 victory over the Kent State Golden
Flashes, 73-59, in the second round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament at
Etherly finished with 27 points and 11 rebounds while also dishing out four
assists for Loyola (23-11). Dylon Cormier added 18 points and Robert Olson
chipped in with 10 as well for the Greyhounds.
Randal Holt and Chris Evans each had 13 points and Darren Goodson tacked on
12 for Kent State (21-14).
Both teams collected nine field goals and shot 30 percent from the field in
the first half. Loyola was able to take the 31-25 advantage at the break by
netting all 11 of its shots from the free-throw line.
While Loyola improved to 52.4 percent shooting in the second half, the Golden
Flashes sank to 25 percent while recording just seven field goals. The
Greyhounds also knocked down 18-of-22 shots from the charity stripe to pull
away for the win.
Loyola had a 40-24 advantage on the boards and, led by four from Jordan
Latham, blocked six shots as a team. Kent State assisted on just six field
