Fort Myers, Florida (News-Press) -- A North Fort Myers woman was jailed Tuesday after deputies say she
stabbed a man she claims made unfavorable comments about her dead husband
Denise Rae Hubbard, 33, is charged with aggravated battery using a deadly weapon.
were called to the Suncoast Estates home Tuesday afternoon after
reports of a disturbance, and found Hubbard standing in the street. Her
victim, a 34-year-old man, told deputies she had stabbed him.
report states that the victim told deputies he was confronted by
Hubbard outside his home. Hubbard said the victim came at her first, and
fearing for her safety, she pulled a small knife from her pocket. The
victim took the knife from Hubbard during a struggle in which Hubbard
was struck in the face.
A witness told deputies that
Hubbard was the instigator, and when the two were struggling on the
ground, Hubbard stabbed the victim.
The victim suffered
stab wounds to his hip and bicep, as well as a cut across the back of
his shoulder and multiple scrapes. He refused treatment at the scene.
Hubbard remains at Lee County Jail on $20,000 bond.
