Check out this amateur video that caught the West, Texas fertilizer plant as it exploded. The man shooting the video was there thinking that he was just shooting a large fire, but little did he know what would happen next.
The explosion you see in the video would send fire and thick smoke shooting into the sky. Officials say more than a hundred people were injured.
Witnesses say the blast was so powerful they could feel it miles away. The force of the blast leveled homes and buildings blocks away from the plant, which is located about 18 miles north of Waco.
The town's mayor, who is also a volunteer firefighter, says he's never seen an explosion like this. "The ball of fire went up, it was like a nuclear bomb went off, big, old mushroom cloud."
The US Geological Survey recorded 2.1 magnitude seismic event from the blast.
