Tampa, Florida - Ireland Nugent is full of smiles. She is doing surprisingly great and is expected to have a good recovery.
She was up and active the morning after her surgery Wednesday, and the latest pictures released by her family show that she's moved out of Pediatric ICU and is moving into a normal room.
On Tuesday, doctors found that part of her repaired skin wasn't healing properly, so they hustled her back into the operating room.
Ireland's mother Nicole says that the little 2-year-old is just now discovering the reality that her feet are gone. Thousands have offered her their prayers, encouragement and financial help, and her mom says this support is making every tough day a little easier to take.
Meanwhile 50 Legs, one of the organizations helping Ireland in her recovery, is holding a fundraiser this weekend.
On Saturday, there is a charity golf tournament at Tarpon Woods Golf Club. Registration begins at 11 a.m. More information is available on 50 Legs' website.
