St. Petersburg, Florida -- St. Pete police have charged the person they believe was responsible for the suspicious fire that resulted in a man's death Wednesday evening, and identified the body found in the fire.
Investigators have charged 60-year-old Daniel Papaleo, who lives as the home in question in the 1000 block of 13th Street North, with arson.
Firefighters found Papaleo outside the home when they responded to fire and took him to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries that he sustained in the fire.
The man who died in the fire has been identified as Robert Greaves. Greaves and a daughter of Papaleo had a child together.
Reportedly Papaleo invited Greaves to his home prior to the fire, although the purpose of this visit is not apparent.
The autopsy revealed Greaves died from blunt force trauma to his upper body prior to the fire.
Papaleo is currently under police guard at a local hospital until he can be transferred to the Pinellas County Jail.
