Seminole, Florida -- Detectives have arrested a woman for embezzling over $100,000 from her employer.
Pinellas Sheriff's deputies say while 45-year-old Kristina Melvin was an office manager/book keeper for SeatsandChairs.com between Jan. 1 and Dec. 29 in 2011, she embezzled over $105,000 from the corporate bank account.
Reportedly, detectives discovered Melvin had created a fake PayPal account with a business name that closely resembled the name of one of the company's legitimate long-time vendors.
Melvin sent multiple invoices from that account to Seats and Chairs and then paid those invoices from the company's bank account through their PayPal account to the new PayPal account which detectives were able to link to her.
Detectives say the funds, which totaled over $98,000, were ultimately went to Melvin's bank account and for her personal use.
In addition, Melvin wrote three checks from this bank account -- totaling over $4,000 -- to pay restitution. She also used a company-issued credit card to make a payment in the amount of $838 to a company in Venice to cover costs of a horse show she participated in.
Melvin was arrested on April 1, 2013 for grand theft over $100,000 and violation of probation. She is currently on felony probation for a previous grand theft case she had committed in 2008.
