Forecast: Rain slowly tapers off next few days

Several storms this afternoon are firing up over the Nature Coast and into Tampa Bay. The active rains will wind down after sunset.  

The atmosphere will be slowly drying out this weekend.  Rain chance will be 30% tomorrow afternoon and mainly inland while a front bring seven drier and cooler air on Sunday shutting down rain chances.

Today Scattered showers and thunderstorms before 8am, then  2pm, then scattered showers and thunderstorms after 12pm. Partly cloudy, with a high near 82. East southeast wind 6 to 8 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Friday Night Scattered showers, mainly before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. North northeast wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Saturday A 30 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 82. Breezy with winds increasing NW 15-20 mph. 

Saturday Night A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 68. West northwest wind around 11 mph.

Sunday Mostly sunny, with a high near 76. West northwest wind 8 to 10 mph.

Sunday Night A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 65. West wind 10 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.
