Largo, Florida - A man was shot by Pinellas deputies after he pointed an assault rifle at them. The man was identified as Anthony Gonzalez.
Deputies arrived to a location where a resident called and said that Gonzalez was threatening people with a gun.
As the deputies arrived, they spotted the SUV driving past them while they were talking to the complaintant. The SUV pulled over, Gonzalez got out of the vehicle with the rifle in his hand and engaged the deputies.
The deputies opened fire on Gonzalez, he was stuck multiple times and was taken to Bayfront Medical Center for his injuries.
Gonzalez was involved in many drug deals in that area and was in the vehicle that his mother was actually driving, looking for people who had "ripped him off."
