Angelina Jolie's testing for a specific breast cancer gene has put genetic testing in the national spotlight. And those kinds of tests for cancer could now happen from the comfort of your home.

Silicon Valley startup 23andMe has developed home genetic testing kits. The company is named for the 23 pairs of chromosomes in a typical human cell.

The developers of 23andMe say the test kits provide valuable information about certain health risks which can help people make smarter decisions about their futures.
