Sarasota County, Florida -- Deputies have arrested an Osprey teen after blood found at the scene of a business burglary connected him to the crime.
In January 2012, police say two suspects smashed the glass at KC Key Food Mart on West Albee Road in Nokomis, entered the store and stole more than $1,000 worth of merchandise.
Deputies collected blood evidence left behind when the suspects jumped over the counter. Testing resulted in a match to the DNA profile of Evan Greer. Further comparison of Buccal swabs obtained from Greer in connection with his conviction for three other business burglaries in August 2012 also confirmed the DNA from KC Key Food Mart was Greer's.
Greer was arrested Tuesday, June 11 and charged with burglary of an unoccupied structure.
