Riverview, Florida-- Despite a suspect's violent attempt to escape his arrest, Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies say they later caught him, cuffed him and charged him with warranted, and new charges Monday morning.

According to reports, deputies arrived to a Riverview home on the 13000 block of Evening Sunset Lane in search of James Beasley- wanted for multiple felony violation of probation charges, grand theft charges involving a gun and another burglary charge.

Two men opened the door and claimed Beasley had left several hours ago, but deputies say both men were lying. The front man was identified as Kieron Lewis, and the man behind him- none other than Beasley himself.

One deputy recognized him from a previous arrest, and that's when they say they made their first attempt to take him into custody. However, Beasley violently resisted and broke free after hitting one of the deputies with his forearm.

He escaped, deputies say, with their handcuffs dangling from one of his wrists.

But he wasn't gone too long. Deputies found him around 7 p.m. near the 2900 block of Windermere Oaks Lane in Tampa. They reportedly arrested him for the original charges, and slapped on an additional battery on an officer charge, as well as escape and petit theft charges.

Detectives say as the investigation continues, they expect to arrest others who participated in assisting Beasley avoid apprehension.

As for Beasley, he is now being held at the Hillsborough County Jail without bond.
