Surveillance image of the man suspected of killing taxi cab driver Jack LaGrand
Clearwater, Florida -- It's been nearly five years, but police now say they have the man who killed a taxi cab driver behind bars.
On September 17, 2008, 51-year-old Jack LaGrand was found shot to death behind the Cabaret Center strip mall on U.S. 19 near Enterprise Road in Clearwater.
On Friday, Clearwater Police identified 24-year-old Tisen Washington as the suspected killer. Investigators say LaGrand picked up Washington from a Dunedin bar on the night he was killed.
Washington, who is currently being held in Pasco County Jail on unrelated charges, is now charged with first degree murder.
Video of the suspect at Fat Daddy's Bar in Dunedin was released last year. A witness came forward about two months ago, identifying the Washington.
Washington allegedly admits to wearing the same shirt as the one showed in the surveillance video, and also admits to calling a cab from the Fat Daddy's. But he denies killing LaGrand.
Detectives say the motive in this case was robbery.
