Hillsborough, Pinellas Counties, FL-- The National Weather Service issued a 30 minute tornado warning for northwestern Hillsborough and northern Pinellas Counties through 6:30 p.m. Friday.
The warning has since expired.
According to reports, doppler radar indicated a tornado near Tampa International Airport moving northwest at 25 mph.

The storm affected Town 'n' Country, or West Park, Westchase, Oldsmar, Safety Harbor and Lake Fern.

As of 7 p.m., a Duke Energy power outage map showed that nearly 600 Pinellas County customers were without power. A similar map from TECO indicated that nearly 500 customers lost power.
NWS precautionary/preparedness tips for tornado warnings:
If you are in the path of the tornado go to a small interior room in a strong and well-constructed building. Cars and mobile homes are not safe.
If no shelter is available, lie flat in a ditch or culvert and cover your head with your hands.
