CLEARWATER, Florida - A Florida woman who once made national headlines because of an uncontrollable case of the hiccups is on trial on a murder charge.
Jury selection began Tuesday in the trial of Jennifer Mee.
The 22-year-old is charged with first-degree murder in the 2010 death of Shannon Griffin. Prosecutors say Mee lured Griffin to a home where two other men robbed him at gunpoint. Griffin struggled with the suspects and was shot several times.

Mee's prolonged hiccups of up to 50 a minute gained her national attention in 2007. She appeared on several TV shows and while on the "Today" show, was hugged by fellow guest and country music star Keith Urban.
She tried home remedies and consulted medical specialists, a hypnotist and an acupuncturist, until the hiccups finally stopped on their own. She later told 10 News the hiccups were caused by Tourette's syndrome, which is a disorder that can cause physical and vocal tics.
