Operation Medicine Cabinet collects nearly 1,000 lbs. of prescription drugs

Pinellas County, Florida -- The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, along with Pinellas Park and Clearwater police, collected nearly a thousand pounds worth of prescription drugs during Operation Medicine Cabinet on Saturday, Oct. 26.

The event was held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at various locations throughout Pinellas. County residents could drop off expired or unused medications, including pet prescriptions, inhalers, patches, and Epi-Pens.

Here is a breakdown of the amount of prescriptions dropped off at each location:

Pinellas County Sheriff's Office -

North District Station - 71.32 lbs.

Central District Station - 103.74 lbs.

St Petersburg Beach - 30.26 lbs.

Total for Sheriff's Office  205.32 lbs.

Pinellas Park Police Department - 62.61 lbs.

Clearwater Police Department - 659 lbs.
