Lee County, Florida - The Lee County Sheriff's Office says Lehigh Acres man knowingly had sex with at least two women without telling them he was HIV positive.
Tony Paulino, 56, is facing two counts of having sex without informing his partner he has HIV. He was arrested Saturday and remains in custody at the Lee County Jail.
One of the women told investigators she was in a sexual relationship with Paulino from December of 2010 through September of 2011, according to a sheriff's office warrant.
She said she starting feeling sick in October of 2012 and learned in March she had contracted HIV.
She started attending a HIV counseling group and met another woman who also said she had also contracted the virus from Paulino, according to the warrant.
The woman, who reported contracting the virus from Paulino in 2010, said she didn't want to prosecute Paulino at the time, because she wanted to focus on her health.
Investigators said Paulino, while incarcerated on sexual battery charges in 2008, informed a woman he had previously been in a relationship with he was HIV positive. That woman later learned she was HIV positive as well.
