Lehigh Acres, Florida (News-press.com) -- Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott warned residents to be careful this holiday season, as a national fad of random attacks appears to have made its way to southwest Florida.
A 15-year-old girl was arrested Tuesday after Scott said she kicked a 72-year-old man and slapped a 89-year-old man. Cypress Lake High School student Traveshia Blanks faces two felony charges of battery on a person 65 or older.
Scott said Blanks admitted executing the unprovoked attacks in imitation of similar attacks she saw online. Such random attacks have been publicized by national media recently, going by names including "the knockout game," "slap cam," and "smack cam."

At a news conference on Wednesday, Scott showed a video Banks' friend allegedly shot of Banks kicking the 72-year-old man. The group of five girls - all members of the Cypress Lake High School basketball team, Scott said - then explodes into laughter and runs away.
But Scott said such attacks are no laughing matter, and those who partake will be prosecuted.
"I don't have the words to tell you how angry this makes me," he said.
