Pinellas Park, FL - Two students were hit by cars while on their way to school in two separate accidents on Tuesday morning. One accident happened in Pinellas and the other in Hillsborough.
Pinellas Park Police say an 11-year-old was riding his bike when he was hit in the 9700 block of 66th Street North just after 7 a.m. He was on his way to Cross Bayou Elementary.
Officers say the driver did not see the boy when he turned from a side street. The boy was not wearing a helmet and did not have any lights on his bike, but we're told he has non-life threatening injuries.
The driver was not charged.
At around the same time over in Tampa, a 12-year-old girl was hit in a crosswalk as she was walking to school.
She was behind a group of students crossing 22nd Street at Diana Street.
The driver reportedly did not see her and was ticketed by police.
The girl also has non-life threatening injuries.
