Tampa, Florida -- Bayshore Boulevard may be clear of beads after last weekend's invasion, but the Gasparilla celebrating isn't over!
Another pirate-filled parade took over at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital this afternoon.
Most of these kids, obviously, couldn't make it to the big parade over the weekend so they were treated to their very own. In this one, though, they are the pirates and got to toss beads to hospital staff and their families.
"It gives them an escape from the everyday routine of the hospital. We try to normalize this environment as much as we can for them. Getting them out of their rooms and able to participate in what's normal for them is great."
Half a dozen real krewes helped out Monday for St. Joe's 10th Annual Gasparilla parade.
The krewes that participated include members:
- Krewe of Agustina de Aragon
- Krewe of Charlotte de Berry
- Krewe of Grace O'Malley
- Krewe of Hillsborough
- Krewe of Rumrunners
- Krewe of Sir Henry Morgan
- Krewe of Zingaro
