Spring Hill, Florida -- Five people, including two boys, remain hospitalized following a mobile home fire in Pasco County.
Seven family members were asleep when a fire broke out at their home on Old Shady Hills Road around 6:40 a.m. Friday.
A neighbor described the four-generation family that lived in and luckily made it out of the home.
"A mother, father, grandmother, a grandfather and a great-grandfather and two precious baby boys," said Melissa Sloop.
Five of the seven are being treated at Tampa General Hospital. There is no word on the condition of the boys ages 5 and 6, but two of the adults are listed in critical and the other adult is listed in fair according to a hospital spokesperson.
Sky 10 flew over the scene in the morning, as the fierce flames demolished the home in just over an hour.
"They lost everything, there's nothing left, said Sloop.
Because of the home's rural location, officials say there were no hydrants nearby so several tankers had to be brought in as crews tried to extinguish the blaze. It took 13 fire crews more than an hour to get the fire under control.
Pasco County Fire Rescue training Chief Andrew Fossa said that the pets helped save them.
"Everyone was asleep. I believe one of the dogs barking alerted them to the fire," said Fossa.
The family had nearly a dozen pets living in the home, some are still unaccounted, others are being treated and some did not make it.
"We do care about the animals but the babies come first," Sloop.
"It's heartbreaking and devastating to see the devastation that happened to the homeowners the people the parents," said Fossa. "I myself being a dog lover the loss of the life of the dogs on top of that.
The family is comforted knowing that everyone got out safely but they realize that the pictures, valuables, and family heirlooms that were destroyed in the fire cannot be replaced.
