Ft. Myers Beach – Tropical Storm Fay made landfall just before 5 a.m. on Tuesday morning at Cape Romano which is just South of Marco Island. The storm is currently moving north – North East at this hour towards Ft. Meyers Beach.

Along the coast where hotels and restaurants line the beach along Estero Boulevard there is a lot of wind and rain and the possibility of tornados popping up which is why tornado warnings have been issued across the area.

Lee County Emergency Operations Center officials say there's a voluntary evacuation in place. 438 people are waking up today in five local shelters in Lee County. Three thousand people are without power and there are some traffic lights that are out in the area.

At the beach a lot of tourists had to cut their vacation plans short due to Tropical Storm Fay and leaving the area today is an issue because most flights have been canceled today at Southwest Florida International Airport.
