MADERA, CALIF. - A civilian who was out on a ride-along with an officer in California got a bigger taste of police life than she probably bargained for. The officer she was with became involved in a chase with shots fired.
It happened on Sunday at around 4:30am in Madera, California. The officer was attempting to pull the driver of a Mazda SUV over, but the driver didn’t stop.
With the citizen still in the vehicle, the officer gave chase, during which shots were fired from the suspects’ vehicle.
The squad car was struck by three rounds, two of which passed through the windshield.
Fortunately, the bullets missed both the officer and the civilian, though the civilian suffered minor cuts and scratches from the glass.
The suspects remain on the run.
