Circle K clerk robbed at knifepoint

TAMPA -- A man who brandished a kitchen knife threatened a Circle K clerk and stole money from the cash register, police reported Tuesday.

The robbery happened on November 25 around 12:58 a.m. when an armed suspect wearing a red hooded sweatshirt approached the clerk working at the convenience store and Shell gas station located at 10111 West Hillsborough Avenue.

The suspect reportedly spoke little English and ordered the clerk to open the register drawer. He took an undisclosed amount of cash before holding the clerk against his will and forcing him into a back office.

Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said that the suspect did not take anything from the office but he allegedly helped himself to cigarette packs as he left the Circle K.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 18-21 years old and weighing between 140-150 pounds. He has brown curly hair and a thin chinstrap-style beard. At the time of the robbery he was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, red shorts and white athletic shoes. He also wore "Mechanix" branded black gloves with beaded grips.
