Wauchula, Florida -- A huge Passion Play production goes on in the small town of Wauchula for several weekends during the Easter season.

Located off US 17 almost 50 miles east of Bradenton, Wauchula is about an hour and a half drive southeast of Tampa.

The non-profit group, Power and Light Productions, transforms the spacious Hardee County Cattlemen's Arena each year into a sprawling stage set for the performances of the "Story of Jesus."

Audiences become engrossed during the 3 hours that depict the different aspects of Christ's life culminating with His Crucifixion and ultimate resurrection.

Hundreds of volunteers from 30-40 churches are involved in creating this production. Adding to the unique atmosphere of the play are the many animals; from herds of goats, to camels, and horses with chariots and mounted soldiers.

Angels glide high across a background of chorus singers in the spectacular finale as a mounted Christ charges across the set.

The production changes so audiences will see a slightly different show each year.

Power and Light Productions is accepting donations towards building a permanent facility where they can perform this and other Biblically based productions year around.
